Uninstall Symantec

Uninstalling advanced software systems such as Symantec may not pose much of a problem if you are willing to forgo some of your system’s overall speed and performance. Software systems such as Symantec can be easily uninstalled by clicking on the ‘start menu’, selecting ‘control panel, then going to ‘add/remove program’ and finally clicking the ‘change/remove’ button displayed in front of the installed Symantec software. However, the problem is that even after carrying out the above stated procedure, entries related to the software continue to remain there in the registry, Start menu, and hard drive, something that eventually leads to reduced processing speed. The residual entries that remain on the windows registry can also create problems when you try to install another version of Symantec or a completely different software system. To avoid a dent in your system’s processing speed and to make way for the successful installations of newer software systems, you will thus be required to follow a set of standard procedures that are required for effectively uninstalling Symantec and all its components from your computer system.

Removing entries from the windows registry

Removing obsolete entries from the windows registry is probably the most important task because the main reason for your system’s slow processing speed is often these obsolete entries. The windows registry on your computer functions as a central database-control system and as such it stores all the necessary information that is required for configuring the system for different users, software applications, and installed hardware devices. It is then quite obvious that the more obsolete entries the registry has, the less will be the processing speed and vice-versa. So, before you start making changes in the registry so as to remove the obsolete entries, it is recommended that you arm yourself with all the necessary information that is required for editing the registry. There is a set of standard procedures that need to be followed, information about which is available on many websites including Symantec’s own website. You just need to follow the step-by-step instructions and the rest will be accomplished automatically. However, before you start making changes to the registry, it is recommended that you create a complete backup of your registry so that you can restore your system to its original configuration in case something goes wrong. This is important because the windows registry on your computer system is an important part of the windows operating system and as such if there is a problem with the registry, the whole system can get affected and in the worst case scenario can get entirely corrupted, rendering it unusable.

Removing Symantec from the Start menu and hard drive

Removing Symantec from the Start menu is comparatively easy; you just have to right-click on ‘Start’, select ‘Open’, click ‘Programs’, select ‘Symantec Client Security Folder, and press the delete button. As for the hard-drive, you just have to select the ‘Symantec Client Security Folder’ in your C drive and press the delete button. It’s as easy as that.

Some entries may still remain in the registry even after following all the above stated guidelines, but you need not worry because its highly unlikely that they will create any problems or lead to a reduction in the processing speed of your computer system.
