Sysinfo

If you have been experiencing problems with your computer system and have been a bit more concerned about it’s slow processing speed, then it is recommended that you have a look at your Sysinfo that comprises of information present in your computer’s ‘registry’ and also in the configured startup functions. Most often, every software that you install is governed by an automatic set-up wizard that makes the installation process a lot easier for end users. The automatic set-up wizard no doubt is beneficial, but the problem is that the wizard automatically includes the software in the ‘startup’ menu, enabling the software to automatically start running, every time you start your computer. This in itself may not harm your computer, but the problem is that most users including you never think twice before installing software programs on their computer systems. You may lose track of the actual count, but when you look at your sysinfo, you will realize that anywhere around twenty to thirty + applications are running simultaneously on your computer system. Due to the auto-wizard functionality, all these applications start running the moment you boot your computer system, something that takes a considerable amount of available memory and processing speed. Very little of your system’s resources is then left for other programs to operate properly, leading to errors and a substantial reduction in processing speed, all of which can make you feel completely frustrated, stressed and helpless.

To avoid all such problems, you just need to have a look at your sysinfo and make a few changes in the registry and ‘startup’ menu configurations. For example, if you want to disable some of the software programs from running automatically the moment your computer boots itself, you will have to click on ‘Start’, select ‘RUN’ and type ‘msconfig.exe’ in the text box that appears on the screen. When you do this, a window will appear on the screen with the name of ‘System Configuration Utility’, in which you need to click on the ‘startup’ button whose position in the window differs based on the type of operating system you are using. When you click ‘Startup’, a list of all the software applications installed on your computer will be displayed along with tick mark boxes indicating whether they have been configured to run automatically or not. Depending on your needs, you can then unclick the software programs that you do not need very often and click on the ones that you use more regularly. You need not worry about the implications of such a move because when you unclick an item, it does not mean that you are deleting the item; it only means that you disabling the auto-run function that was earlier configured by the installation wizard.

Apart from these, you also need to make some changes in your system’s registry because even after uninstalling a software, some entries continue to remain there in the registry. These entries can also generate errors and slow the processing speed and as such you need to follow the set of standard procedures for editing the registry. However, before you start, it’s recommended that you create a backup of the registry, so that your system can be restored to its original configuration, in case anything goes wrong.

Once you are successful in making all the prescribed changes stated above, you can expect complete freedom from nagging errors on your computer and also a substantial improvement in its processing speed.
