Burning CD

As technology has progressed the methods of storage have also evolved from a floppy to a CD, an acronym for Compact Disc. Today there are two kinds of CD's in the market that can be used, the CD-R and CD-RW. The CD-R is a standard CD and can be written on only once. They are approximately forty cents each depending on the place of purchase. The advantage of the CD-RW is that it can be re-used a number of times like a floppy disk, with a disadvantage of being steeper on the price.
Burning a CD is no hard task. The CD writer is used to burn CD's and comes with a burning program, though the program provided will vary from each manufacturer. So to begin with find the program and load it. Once that is done, follow the instruction given below-
  • Once the program has started, the program gives an option of burning the CD manually or with the help of a wizard. If you are burning a CD for the first time, use the wizard. Why shun a helping hand?
  • The next step to decide on is what kind of CD you are burning. It could be an audio, data or both. The program has an option of burning a CD in data format or audio format. In order to get the CD to play both the data format is the best.
  • If you are burning a CD only for audio then the audio option must be chosen. A CD-R is a good choice since a CD-RW might not be compatible with a few CD players. The CD-RW can be used for data files.
  • Selecting the file is the next step in Burning CD's. Programs generally have a user-friendly setup for this, like Windows Explorer. Majority of them also have a drag and drop function and a symbol as the CD capacity reaches its maximum.
  • After doing this, the program provides a 'Burn' option. Click on it and Voila! the CD burning begins.
  • Some things that you should remember is that when the CD is burning and there is a power failure, the CD is as good as a coaster and can't be used again. The term 'coaster' is used for corrupted CD's or CD's that cannot be used.
  • Also when the CD is burning, avoid running any other applications or better still do some other work for about five minutes not related to the computer. Once you get the hang of burning a CD you can wave goodbye to the wizard and get fancier with the burning software.
  • The Burning CD software also lets you design the covers for the CD, which can be very helpful for a business.
Now having a good software is also smoothens the process of burning a CD. There are plenty of free software's available online. But the catch is that they are on a 30-day trial period and the service needs to be purchased once it expires.
