Black ScreenBlack screen is a problem where the screen of a computer turns black. Some people face a problem where the screen is faded, almost black. People have been able to spot a few things on their desktop but they have had to strain their eyes to the maximum to get an idea what is there on the desktop. While there are some people that cant view anything. The screen goes completely blank at the desktop after the OS is loaded. Some people face black screen problem at the start of the screen. The power LED will be on and the processor fan too will be running but there will be no display. While some may face the problem at regular intervals, mostly after every 5 to 10 min the screen will go black. These problems way arise on Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Linux. The problem could either be with a desktop or a laptop. To solve the problem, the first thing a person should do is run the system restore program. The system restore will solve any problem, except hardware problems. And if that is not possible run the computer in the safe mode. Check the display settings or properties to see if the brightness and gamma is set low. If the Safe mode screen too appears black take the help of another computer to guide you through the process. If neither of these two solutions work then one can rule out that the black screen is due to a software or driver problem. This solution is applicable for those who face the black screen problem after the OS is loaded. The black screen could also be because of a hardware failure. There must be a problem with the display card or it must have malfunctioned. One of the ways to get the display card verified is by changing the monitor. If the system is running properly an external monitor then the display card is ok. The problem may also arise if the tube or backlight of the monitor has been damaged. Also make sure to check all the hardware connections. Also check up with the “Power Option Properties” and the Power Management in the BIOS settings. The black screen problem may also arise if a graphic card is not attached properly or if the graphic card is not accepted by the system. Check if the graphic card drivers are installed properly. Try changing the BIOS settings to the PCIE slot and make sure it is not on the VGA mode. Also check if the graphics card is compatible with the motherboard. If the motherboard does not support the graphics card then the chances of facing a black screen are high. Black Screen problems are more evident with laptops than desktops. If none of the above solutions apply then its best to replace the hardware or get the laptop or desktop serviced. This should be the first preference if the hardware or the system itself is in guarantee period. Takes 4 Mins Click Here |
